All praise is due to Allaah. May peace and blessings of Allaah be upon the Messenger, his household and companions.
Brethren in Islaam! How fast are the days and nights pass! Such is the nature of this infinite world. It does not stay on one condition. That is the Law of Allaah on His creature. Everything moves according to its appointed time.
This reality is recognized by people of understanding and reason. They as a result, take lessons from that. Allaah says, “Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.” (Aal-Imraan: 190).
Fellow Muslims! Ramadaan has just bade us farewell as if it is an itinerant guest. Alas, Ramadaan has gone while some people have gained profits thereof and others have incurred loss. Ramadaan has gone and with it went your deeds. Let him who has done good deeds during Ramadaan continue on the same path and let him who has been negligent endeavor to end his life with good deeds for acts are judged according to their ends.
Brethren in Islaam! The Muslims have never been in constant self-examination and reflection more than they are now. Let them reflect on their conditions and examine themselves before it is too late.
Brethren in faith! Islamic religion entails lofty and unparalleled meanings and aims and among the major aims of fasting is that it is a means of attaining piety in all its forms. So learn from your fasting strong will to do good deeds, refine your character and reform yourself inwardly and outwardly. Endeavor to rectify what has been damaged and strengthen what has weakened.
There are many verses in the Glorious Qur’aan that call to uprightness in good deeds and firmness on the true guidance. Allaah says, “So stand you firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allaah) with you and transgress not Allaah’s legal limits.” (Hood: 112).
This is the divine admonition addressed to individuals and societies that includes standing firm on the teachings of Islaam, abiding by its limits and obeying its laws. Then listen to the Prophet’s admonition in this regard: A Bedouin man asked the Messenger of Allaah: “Tell me a word in Islaam, which I will have no need to ask any other person after you.” The Messenger of Allaah answered “Say: I believe in Allaah and stand firm on that.” This is an admonition that guarantees a satisfying life for the Muslim nation and is capable of actualizing an eternal happiness for them. Allaah says, “Verily, those who say our Lord is (only) Allaah and thereafter stand firm and straight (on the Islamic faith of monotheism), on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve. Such shall be the dwellers of Paradise, abiding therein (forever) a reward for what they used to do.” (Al-Ahqaaf: 13 – 14).
Fellow Muslims! These great occasions pass in a time that the Muslim nation is surrounded by many impediments and ailments and the Muslims are suffering from calamities, disunity and humiliation. Is it then not time to review this painful condition? Is it not time to recognize the real causes of weakness and ailments? Allaah says, “Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe (in the oneness of Allaah – Islamic Monotheism) to be affected by Allaah’s reminder (the Qur’aan) and that which has been revealed….” (Al-Hadeed: 16).
Now is the time for us –after we have bade farewell to Ramadaan- to bid farewell to all our sufferings! We can however not do that except by holding fast unto the path of the Qur’aan and Sunnah, by working hard and being sincere with Allaah in helping the cause of His Religion in all places and carrying out the obligation of salvaging His wronged slaves from oppression. Allaah says, “The believers, men and women, are helpers of one another. They enjoin all that is good, forbid all that is evil, perform Salaah, give Zakaah and obey Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah will have His mercy on them. Surely, Allaah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (At-Tawbah: 71).
Brothers in faith! It is compulsory on every Muslim to have full cognizance of the dangers of the enemies and their evil plans to destabilize them and undermine their strength.
World Zionists now take lead in waging a relentless war against Islaam and Muslims. We should therefore, beware of these evil plans and cling tenaciously to our religion.
Fellow Muslims! Among the evil plans of the enemy against Islaam is the vicious media campaign that is launched against the land of the two Sacred Mosques; a land that has given many to humanity and sacrificed a lot for the sake of peace, security and stability. It is therefore, a duty of all Muslims to understand that the objectives behind this devilish campaign is to exterminate the essence of this religion. Allaah says, “They wish that you reject Faith as they have rejected Faith and thus that you all become equal.” (An Nisaa’: 89).
It is therefore, incumbent on the Muslims to understand the essence of their religion and purpose of the Word of their Lord. It is also their obligation to understand the teachings of Islaam. If they however fail to do that, they have neglected and abandoned the Guidance of Allaah. Allaah says, “And say (O Muhammad): Do deeds! Allaah will see your deeds and so will His Messenger and the believers and you will be brought back to the All- Knower of the unseen and the seen. Then He will inform you of what you used to do.” (At-Tawbah: 105).
Fellow Muslims! The fortunate is the one who uses his time to work for the hereafter and neither worldly commitment nor its desires distracted him from fulfilling the rights of his Lord. Let those who have tasted the sweetness of obedience therefore, beware of moving close to the bitterness of sins again.
Try then, dear brother, to be pious and righteous as you were in Ramadaan and follow it up with a fasting of six days in Shawwaal, for whoever does that is like the one who fasts for eternity as it is authentically reported from the Prophet.
Finally let those who missed the fasting of a number of days in Ramadaan hasten to pay it back, for, the obligatory acts deserve to be done first.
